Our Story
Built on a Love of Cats, Coffee and Community
Mr Whiskers Cat Café began with a simple dream: to create a place where people could enjoy exceptional coffee, spend time with wonderful cats, and experience the comfort and companionship that animals can bring to everyday life.
The café is owned and founded by Charlotte, whose passion for animals has shaped every step of her journey. At just 21 years old, Charlotte has spent more than six years working towards making Mr Whiskers Cat Café a reality. Her dedication has taken her through studies in Animal Management at agricultural college, business qualifications, and professional barista training, alongside valuable experience gained working in coffee shops.
Combining her knowledge of animal welfare, business management, and speciality coffee, Charlotte set out to create something truly special for the local community: a welcoming environment where cats are cared for, guests can relax, and meaningful connections can be made.
The Cat Behind the Name
The inspiration for the café comes from Charlotte's beloved tabby cat, Mr Whiskers.
A loyal and affectionate companion, Mr Whiskers was always there when she needed comfort, support, or simply a reason to smile. Known for his love of belly rubs, Dreamies treats, and the occasional slice of chicken, he had a remarkable ability to brighten even the most difficult days.
His gentle personality and loving nature inspired the values that are at the heart of the café today: kindness, comfort, companionship, and care for every cat and every guest who walks through our doors.
Our Mission
At Mr Whiskers Cat Café, cat welfare will always come first.
We are committed to providing a safe, enriching and loving environment for all of our resident cats. Every cat in our café is part of our foster family and is available for adoption, giving visitors the opportunity to build a genuine connection before providing a forever home.
We believe there is no better way to meet a future companion than by spending time together in a relaxed and natural setting.
Whether you leave with a favourite feline or simply memories of a wonderful visit, we hope every guest experiences the joy that cats can bring.
A Place for Everyone
From the very beginning, Charlotte wanted the café to be more than somewhere to enjoy coffee. She wanted it to become a community space where everyone feels welcome.
The café is designed with accessibility in mind, ensuring guests with physical disabilities can enjoy all aspects of the experience comfortably. We are also committed to supporting wellbeing through a range of specialised sessions, including:
-
Quiet sessions for guests seeking a calmer environment
-
Sensory-friendly visits
-
Wellbeing sessions for those living with anxiety or mental health challenges
-
Community events designed to bring people together through a shared love of cats
Our goal is to create an inclusive and supportive space where people can relax, recharge and feel at home.
Supporting Cat Welfare Beyond Our Cafe
Giving back to the wider cat community is a key part of our mission.
Mr Whiskers Cat Café proudly supports our chosen cat charity through fundraising activities, awareness campaigns, donation collections and community events. Every contribution helps support vital rehoming and welfare work, giving more cats the opportunity to find safe, loving homes.
We are always grateful for donations and support from our visitors, helping us make a positive difference to the lives of cats both within and beyond our café.
